A forward-looking workshop in Kielnarowa brought together a diverse group of university stakeholders to shape strategic directions for Green, Digital, and Silver Transformation, with a strong focus on building societal awareness and strengthening ESG-related competencies.

Defining the Role of Education in Green Transformation

Organized by UITM, the workshop aimed to explore how higher education institutions can actively contribute to raising public understanding of sustainability and supporting the green transition. At the same time, it served as a platform to align institutional priorities with emerging educational and societal needs.

Participants worked collaboratively to identify key development areas, including:

  • Modernizing educational programs with topics such as ESG, circular economy, and green technologies
  • Expanding external training offers for businesses, public institutions, and local communities
  • Strengthening the university’s contribution to societal change and sustainability awareness

Collaborative Dialogue Across Perspectives

The workshop followed a structured and interactive format, combining moderated discussions with thematic group work. Participants explored the intersection of education, sustainability, and institutional development, while also emphasizing the importance of synergy between Green, Digital, and Silver Transformation priorities.

A particularly valuable aspect of the event was its inclusive and intergenerational approach, bringing together:

  • Academic and teaching staff
  • Administrative teams
  • Early-career professionals and senior experts
  • Specialists in sustainability, digital innovation, and social development

This diversity enabled a rich exchange of ideas and the integration of both experience-driven insights and fresh perspectives.

Key Insights and Future Directions

Several important conclusions emerged from the discussions:

  • Strengthening public awareness of Green Transformation should be a core part of the university’s mission
  • There is increasing demand for practical ESG training for external stakeholders, especially businesses adapting to regulatory changes
  • Educational models should be inclusive and flexible, addressing the needs of learners across generations, including the 50+ community

The workshop also supported the transfer of insights from the ESG4PMChange project, contributing to the development of future-ready competencies for changemakers in sustainability.

Next Steps

The outcomes of the workshop will be presented to university leadership and relevant departments, supporting the continued evolution of strategic initiatives and educational programs aligned with sustainable development goals.
