Researchers, academic staff, industry professionals, and EU project managers learned more about ESG4PMChange during the European Academy’s online open course, “Unlocking AI in Research: Must-Know Tools to Supercharge Your Work.”
Organised by the European Academy, the course explored the use of artificial intelligence in literature reviews, academic writing, data analysis, automation, and research dissemination. As part of the introductory session, ESG4PMChange was presented as a European initiative supporting the integration of environmental, social, and governance competencies into project management education and professional training.
Connecting ESG, AI, and Responsible Innovation
The presentation introduced participants to the growing importance of ESG-focused project management for universities, vocational education and training providers, SMEs, industry organisations, and project managers.
Within the course’s wider focus on artificial intelligence and research productivity, ESG4PMChange was presented as particularly relevant to responsible innovation, sustainability, evidence-based decision-making, and the future skills required for project-based work.
Participants learned how the project brings together universities, VET providers, professional organisations, and industry partners to bridge the gap between education and labour market needs.
Practical Pathways for Developing ESG Competencies
Special attention was given to the ESG4PMChange learning framework, competency models, educational resources, Living Labs, and micro-credential approach.
The presentation highlighted how competency frameworks and professional profiles can help translate broad ESG principles into practical knowledge and skills for project managers, educators, and other professionals.
Living Labs were presented as a way of connecting theoretical learning with real sustainability challenges, while digital resource hubs, MOOCs, open educational resources, and micro-credentials can provide flexible opportunities for ESG upskilling and professional development.
A Relevant Exchange Across Education and Industry
The online session brought together eight participants from universities, private-sector organisations, and other professional and research-related entities.
The group included researchers, academic staff, higher education representatives, industry professionals, and EU project managers with different levels of experience in using AI. This mixed profile created an opportunity to consider ESG4PMChange from the perspectives of research, teaching, institutional capacity building, project implementation, and innovation-oriented work.
Participant engagement during the session indicated interest in the project’s practical approach to ESG skills. University representatives recognised the relevance of incorporating ESG topics into curricula and professional development, while industry-oriented participants related the project to transparent, accountable, and sustainability-aware project delivery.
Expanding the Visibility of ESG4PMChange
The European Academy strengthened the visibility of ESG4PMChange by including it in its presentation of current EU-funded projects and introducing its objectives and planned resources to participants from different organisational backgrounds.
The project website, digital resources, Living Labs, and micro-credential approach were also highlighted as opportunities for future engagement.
By connecting ESG-focused project management with artificial intelligence, research productivity, and responsible innovation, the presentation supported wider awareness of the competencies needed for sustainable education, research, and professional project work.
